Greetings, friends of needle and thread!

I’m so excited to share my latest project inspired by the beauty of traditional Ukrainian folk art. For this issue, I created a floral placemat using the machine free-motion couching embroidery technique. The deep red yarn used for the embroidery gives the design a bold, yet delicate feel, capturing the essence of traditional Ukrainian embroidery.

The floral pattern is inspired by classic folk designs, featuring a mix of flowers and swirls, each with its own unique shape. The petals are outlined with fine red yarn that blends seamlessly into the fabric, adding texture and detail to the design. The flower stems and leaves are also created using the same technique, giving the design a stunning, monochromatic look. All the details and step-by-step instructions you will find on page 32 of the latest A Needle Pulling Thread magazine.

This project brings a touch of Ukrainian culture to any table setting, adding beauty and elegance to your home décor.

A special thank you to Carla, the editor-in-chief of A Needle Pulling Thread, for making this collaboration such a pleasure. It’s always wonderful to work with you and your amazing team!
